Inspiration-snack # 33

R.I.P. GET A MAC campaign. ONE MORE THING has put together a nice tribute to 5 years of  the ad campaign, that has entertained us so much.

Credits go to TBWA\MEDIA ARTS LAB for a brilliant and consistent campaign. And to the actors John Hodgman (PC) and Justin Long (Mac)

New typography for Inspirationspam

New on my blog is the typography I’m using. It’s generated by a new plug-in: Typekit, witch can be used either on a Worpress blog or on any other type of website.
Typekit is an easie way to use real fonts on the web. It’s a subscription-based service for linking to Open Type fonts from some of the major type foundries. The fonts are served from a global network on redundant servers.

Every major browser now supports the ability to link to a font. That means you can write a bit of CSS, include a URL to a font file, and have your page display with the typography you expect. For designers and developers, this is a significant step forward. No longer will you need to trap your content in images or Flash. But Fonts have copyrights.
And that’s where Typekit comes in. They’ve developed a web-only font linking license with the major type foundry’s. And they’ve build the technology platform to host free and commercial fonts.

Inspirationspam is now using the VERA SANS by Bitstream as bodytype…

… and LFT ETICA DISPLAY WEB by TypeTogether for the headings.

Write the future

Nike runs a pretty cool campaign WRITE THE FUTURE for the World Championship football 2010 in South Africa. The time has come for players to carve their name in history. One touch, tackle or free kick could crush a nation’s hopes or cause them to build a statue in your honour. Players like Drogba, Rooney, Ronaldinho and Ronaldo are ready to Write The Future.

You can also see what happens to star player Rooney when he doesn’t make the difference this tournament.

And, not that I’m chauvinistic or anything… but I’m missing: Kahlid Boulahrouz, Mark van Bommel, Nigel de Jong, Wesley Sneijder, Ibrahim Affelay, Robin van Persie, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Arjan Robben, Dirk Kuyt and most of all Rafael van der Vaart ;-)

What drives us

Drive: The surprising truth about what motivates us.
This animation, adapted from DAN PINK’S talk at the RSA, illustrates the hidden truths behind what really motivates us at home and in the workplace. The RSA (the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce), has been a cradle of enlightenment thinking and a force for social progress for over 250 years.

I’ve seen this talk a while back but this animated version makes it a lot more entertaining and more digestible for visual-oriented people like me ;-)

THX Rudy Snippe for bringing it to my attention!

Embracing arms chair

Very cute, very welcoming, very inviting, very charming these embracing arms chair designed by Ukraine designer Oleksander Shestakovych. Made me smile. Sometimes you wonder why no one has ever thought of this before. It seems so obvious.
