Ok, you probably know by now this blog is, for a small part, dedicated to the best non-material ever: cardboard. So I just had to show you the work of British designer Gilles Miller. I stumbled upon his work through an article on designboom.
Every now and than champagne brand Piper collaborates with a fashion designer to create a limited edition bottle. Last year it was the ‘up-side-down’ bottle of Victor and Rolf (see the earlier post on this blog). This year it’s shoe designer Christian Louboutin. The bottle comes with a glass shoe. Drinking champagne from a woman’s shoe is a ritual that dates back to the 18th century. Now you have the opportunity to relive these times. Nice decadent concept in the financial hard times.

Wallpaper* kwam afgelopen maand uit met the ‘sex-issue’. Als onderdeel daarvan is een groot aantal grafische ontwerpers gevraagd een typografische tart card te ontwerpen. Tart cards zijn een langzaam uitstervend ‘form of advertising’ in Londense telefooncellen, waarop prostituees hun diensten aanbieden.

In de muziek wordt het veel gedaan; mashups. Twee (of meer) songs mixen naar één nummer. (luister vrijdag middag naar 3FM. Paul Rabbering zendt dan de Vrijdagmiddagmix uit, een door luisteraars gemaakte mashup). Laat Granny Teller je uitleggen hoe dat werkt.

Maar nu is er dan ook de design mashup. Ontwerper Little Pixel heeft een serie album covers ontworpen, waarbij hij oude (jaren 80, 90) LP hoezen ‘gemixt’ heeft met Pelican serie boeken covers. Lekker retro resultaat, wat natuurlijk helemaal past in de herwaardering van vinyl van de laatste tijd. (bij KINK FM kon je laatst bijvoorbeeld een nieuw album winnen, maar dan wel op vinyl)

Mooie retro cans van Coca cola. Leuk om te zien dat Coca Cola eigenlijk al zo lang bezig is met speciale tijdelijke cans, terwijl je toch het idee hebt of dat echt iets van de laatste 10 jaar is.

De formule lijkt afgekeken van Jones Soda, dat al jaren (onderanderen via internet) vrolijk gekleurde frisdrank, in soms bizarre smaken als Blue Bubble Gum en Fufu Berry, aan de man brengt.
Wil je het ‘C’ woord niet meer tegenkomen in je google zoekopdracht? Download dan de add-on ontwikkeld door reclamebureau ARC Lisabon, die het ‘C’ woord omvormt naar ‘Opportunity’ (werkt allen in een Firefox browser). Positieve actie om de werled in een positief perspectief te zien.
Ja, of je leeft gewoon in ontkenning, dat kan ook. Steek je vingers in je oren en ga heel hard la la la zingen.
